Commissioned Training

Commissioned Training: Bring GCDA’s Expertise to Your Community

For over 40 years, GCDA has successfully designed and delivered high-impact training programs that empower individuals, support local enterprises, and improve community health and well-being. Now, you can bring our proven training models to your own borough or organisation.

We work with local authorities, housing associations, large charities, and community organisations outside of Greenwich to deliver bespoke or ready-made training packages. Whether you need to upskill your community leaders, support local food entrepreneurs, or deliver health and nutrition programs, our expert tutors provide practical, engaging, and accessible learning experiences.

Our Training Portfolio

We can deliver training directly to your residents, staff, or service users across a wide range of specialities:

  • Food & Health Programs: From our highly successful 5-week community cookery clubs to accredited healthy eating and nutrition courses. We help communities learn to cook affordable, nutritious meals, combating food poverty and health inequalities.

  • Business & Enterprise Start-Up: Comprehensive support for local entrepreneurs. We specialise in general business start-up training, with renowned expertise in safely and sustainably launching and scaling food-based businesses.

  • Catering & Commercial Kitchen Skills: Practical, hands-on training including professional knife skills, culinary trends, and food hygiene, designed to prepare individuals for employment in the hospitality sector.

  • Community Development & Capacity Building: Training designed to empower local voices. We teach the fundamentals of community development, helping community groups, volunteers, and staff build sustainable, community-led projects.

  • Creative & Horticultural Skills: Engaging courses that bring people together, reduce isolation, and teach practical life skills, ranging from sewing and mending to community gardening and foraging.

Why Commission GCDA?

  • A Proven Track Record: We don’t just teach theory; we are active practitioners running community hubs, enterprises, and programs every day. We bring decades of on-the-ground experience to every session.

  • Expert Tutors: All our courses are delivered by qualified industry professionals who know how to make learning interactive, inclusive, and enjoyable for adult learners of all backgrounds.

  • Flexible Delivery: We can deliver training in person at your venues, at our own fully equipped training kitchens and hubs, or online.

  • Tailored to Your Goals: Need an off-the-shelf course quickly, or a bespoke program designed for a specific demographic? We work closely with commissioners to ensure the curriculum aligns perfectly with your strategic objectives and funding requirements.
